Don't worry - I'm on Linux so like you Mac users I 'laugh in the face' of such exe files.
Hard luck, I know what it's like to be hacked myself, the Portal got thrown off an ISP for it a couple of years ago.
I've not had any problems since running it from here with tightened security.
Sounds like it an exploit of the Forum software? Presumably they have a patch for it.
Cheers,
Andy

Fortuntaely, so am I an Apple fanatic from way back. Sadly, the a**holes we have always with us. Thank you, Diego, for all the work you and your lovely partner have put into this site and into the cause of remembering our past--the past that continues to shape our future. Together we'll all weather the storm(s) large and small.

Which would be the best of all the spyware utilities to get rid of this? Am looking for the smallest downloadable sizes... Will be sending a CD of apps to Mort but don't want to clog his machine up too much. Would rather just get rid of the infection as he plans to upgrade his PC anyway

I thought the email was a bit odd as well.  I just couldn't figure out why someone would want a novice working the forums.  I was about to email Diego and ask him if he had sent it to the wrong person, (I didn't open up the hackers attempt,) and shortly after the email came from Diego.  WHEW!!!!

It's a shame that people get their kicks from sending out viruses, what do they accomplish from that?  (rhetorical question)

Well, I think with the new system we will be a lot safer, it's just a shame that so much additional work had to be done to protect the users.

Going back to my happy place  :D
