I recently went past Stone Henge, pulled up on the side of the road, and gazed over at the stones.  It was my boyfriends first sighting of Stone henge, but as i looked over , it looked different some how.  It looked like two stones near to the heel stone had fallen over.  i would have thought that this would have made the news if it did happen.
I didn't stop to walk into the site, and i live about 300 miles away from there so i cant just nip bac and check it out again.  I would be grateful if someone could help me out with this.
Cheers.

It seems possible that some story was in the news that you did not see. Even if some changes have occured to the area, it is to be expected <<after all, that area has been there quite a while. If you are interested in looking at recordings or pictures of the area then it is probable that photographs and documentaries exist.

You are lucky to be witness to such an important construction. I envy you. Good luck with your research should you choose to pursue this topic.

Happy to report that no stones have fallen at Stonehenge for many years. Much reconstruction was undertaken in the last century, stabilising of leaning uprights etc. The stone/s you saw have always been prone, at least in historical times.

Yeah I don't think that they have just so simply fallen down. If so we would have heard of it somewhere anyway :)

There was a spoof site on the net somewhere that had a webcam purporting to show a lintel falling off! (didn't happen.)
I think you must be talking about the Slaughter Stone, which is the nearest downlying stone to the Heelstone. Don't worry, it's been down for centuries, probably rudely thrown down by 17thc folks who wanted to drive their carriages up to the stones and found it was in the way (sadly, true.)
