We know it's almost unbelievable, but yesterday afternoon our website has been attacked by hackers - for the THIRD time in just 5 months. Somehow, someone just found a way to exploit our news management software to send out thousands of spam messages through our server and with our e-mail address on them. As you can imagine, the website has been shut off for a few hours this morning, to allow us identify the problem and to stop any further hack.
So, the Stone Pages website remained unavailable for about six hours, as our server was being threatened to be "blacklisted" again.

We finally found the weak link in the chain, and our only option is to update the free software we were using (Movable Type) to its full commercial version, which hopefully does contain the latest and most secure anti-exploitation code. Unfortunately, that software will put an additional $149,95 expense per year over our shoulders. And - after the recent discussion on the meaning to keep our forum open - we are quite depressed because of the situation. It looks the more we give, the worst we get.

Sorry for the inconvenience and for these sad words. We are working hard to fix everything as soon as possible.

Small update - we are still working full time on the server to see if the new software (and relative additional expenses) is really needed. So,  there may be the chance to keep the software as is, just applying an additional security measure at no extra charge.
