Over the last few months we've been almost silent - please accept our apologies, but there have been many other issues to deal with. Paola has started a long therapy to fight an autoimmune disease (nothing exceedingly serious) triggered by the arrival of Daniele, our second son who is now 18-month old. In the meantine, we looked back at the huge amount of "megalithic" information gathered over the last 18 years and we realized that if we'd like to go on with our project of writing and publishing a series of books devoted to ancient monuments of Europe, we should collect and share as much info and photos as we can.
So, with only a few days time, we organized a quick tour of Wales - with our two children - so to fill all the "gaps" left out over the last visit to that country. The tour started on June 22nd and lasted about 11 days. Now we are writing this post in Newcastle upon Tyne, and our plane will leave in two days to take us all back to Italy.
Our second megalithic tour of Wales has been wonderful: the weather was horrible (as usual), but the children have been real gems and we visited some truly breathtaking sites. Of course, we also used some hi-tech tricks to let our readers enjoy the beautiful atmosphere we found at those ancient Welsh sites. So, we made a series of spherical panoramic movies (to be put online soon) to let you look at those site over 360° in every direction. At the same time, we tested a relatively new photographic technique called HDR (High Dynamic Range) to capture every single detail present on the original location. The results are quite satisfying, as you can see below.
We really hope to publish everything we gathered over all these years, so please bear with us if in the next few months we will pop in just a few times on this forum. In any case we will keep you posted on all our future projects.
Ciao!
Paola & Diego
