Seeking Help In Identifying Found Pottery Fragment

Hello, I am posting here and on other forums in a quest to get insight into the origins of a fragment of pottery that I found while skin diving in a reef on the south shore of Cuba.

I found one point of it sticking out of the silt floor 60 feet down.

I am linking to several photos I took, with the hopes that the patterns or shape may reveal clues.

I greatly appreciate any hints or solutions!

oo pretty. and quite interesting. I am not knowledgable but offhand it looks African.

The art lady at the smithsonian will answer questions, she is link #14 here:

some of those other links have really knowledgable folks too.

if she is on sabbatical or whatever, you can try this lady, art history at university california santa cruz..ask her to forward it to the most appropriate person if she is not it due to i think ucsc has someone there/a program that has to do with old pottery.
