Dear friends,
After more than 10 days of very hard work, the transfer to our new server is now almost complete. And the new Archaeo Forum is now back online.

If you already subscribed to our forums, there is no need to re-register: to log in just put in your password; if you have forgotten it, check the option to receive it back to your e-mailbox. The new forum software is much more powerful and flexible than the previous one; we hope you will enjoy the many additions.

There are still some rough edges here and there, and the "blue look" of this section will be removed with something more similar to the graphic layout of this website. Anyway, we will be grateful if you can send us any report of broken links/malfunctioning. And please check also the new Archaeo News section (http://www.stonepages.com/news/), that we completely redesigned and upgraded.

Again thanks for your patience and support!  :D

Thank you Jimit  :)
We would appreciate if anybody could tell us if the text of these forums is readable (too small, wrongly blended with the background) and if you find any problems using the improved Archaeo Forums. There are still some minor glitches with them, but we opted to open them earlier, so everybody can have a good chat again...

Thanks for your help

Thank you Arran, Emma and Nigel.
We worked like mad to make this website transfer as smooth as possible. And we were looking for a new, improved Forum section. And your words are very encouraging!
By the way, if we exclude Diego's posts - for obvious reasons - you are no.1 and no.2 in the "Overall Top 10 posters" section (did you notice it? You can find it on the Forum main page, above the stats section)
Please go on like that: we really appreciate your dedication and we're glad you're here to keep this forum very lively!

I forgot to mention, the colour scheme of the forums is really good. I tried to count the number of shades of blue you have used but had to give up. It gives a very sophisticated, quality feel (a woman's touch, perhaps?). Much better than some "other" sites, that look like they are a branch of McDonalds!

The news archive by country is a very good feature, and I'm sure lots of people will appreciate it, but I hadn't noticed it until you mentioned it. Perhaps you could make it more prominent?

Oh dear, I've just read that the blue look is only temporary. Perhaps it wasn't you who designed it. Well, it still looks good, but no doubt your new version will be as well!

Well, we just modified the original "blue" version (which was the default choice for the new forum software), to make it as readable as possible. And we're glad you liked the result! Anyway, we think that this blue shade is a tad too different from the basic layout of the other webpages of the site, and we'd like to incorporate some "old megaliths" graphics to make this Forum section different from any other forum you can find on the 'net.
But these are subtleties and we will probably work on them after the completion of more important sections...

Thanks for your input!

I agree on both, welcome back P&D and nice colour scheme. It must have been a lot of work transferring everything, which I can only empathise with!

(What site did you have in mind Nigel?)
Cheers,
Andy

Still finding my way around but I like what I see. One thing I miss though are the brief descriptions on the posts of where people come from you know.."SE Wessex".."Ireland"... etc. It helps to get a handle on the poster. Not too keen on being demoted from Senior Member though.. ;)

You are perfectly right: that was something we missed too on the new board. So, we just made a custom "hack" to make you happy (have a look at the descriptions on the left)  ;)

Ta! Brilliant! One other minor quibble, with the "Clickable Smiles" on the left,on the previous site you told us what they stood for. I can guess what some stand for but I am completely stumped by the bottom right icon. Looks frightening !!
