Dear Friends,
As you probably noticed, on all posts (below your own name/id) there is a title that now lists three different ranks:
  • Junior Member
  • Member
  • Senior Member
These ranks depend on how long you registered on the forum and how many messages you posted there.
We would like to add two other ranks (to make them 5), but - more important - it would be nice if those ranks could be "personalized" to reflect the subject of this discussion forum. We believe that the top rank should be called Megalithomaniac, but we need your help to find the names for the other 4 ranks.

Please unleash your creativity and post your suggestions here!  :)

What a fantastic idea! But after 15 minutes of deep searching our minds for something suitable we can see how tricky a task this actually is. Ignoring those that were nonsense or derogatory, our best suggestions are Gnomon Gnome and Sarcen Scourer. Perhaps one too confusing and one too obvious, but it will be playing on our minds for the rest of the evening. We'll keep you posted!

The fact that A & E are excluding derogatory or nonsensical replies has left me a bit tongue tied on this subject.
However, how about: Iron Member, Bronze Member, Neolithic Member and Mesolithic Member?

Except for Jimit, who could remain as a Senior Member!

We were thinking some "less serious" descriptions. For instance, the Junior Member could be changed to  Peeble Mover. Finding good names is not as simple as it looks...

Please go on with your suggestions!

How about:

i) Day Tripper
ii) Stone Seeker
iii) Archaeology Student
iv) Madly Megalithic
v) Aubrey Burl

But Peeble Mover make us chuckle lots!

Thanks for your many excellent suggestions. We are looking forward to make a final choice; at the moment, this is the list that we like best (a mixture of what you suggested):

I) Peeble tripper (does it make sense in English?)
II) Stone seeker
III) Sarsen expert
IV) Trilithon connoisseur (is it "specialist" a better word?)
V) Megalithomaniac (coined after the "Megalithomania" book by John Michell)

Please let us know your opinion!

In this part of the world Peebles is a department store. I think you want "Pebble Tripper".

A few category names might be "Stone Sleuth" or "Rock Hound" or "Dolmen Dodger" or "Menhir Master".

What a fun prospect -- you'll encourage numerous postings just to upgrade the category!

Thanks again for a GREAT site -- it's very comforting to know y'all are out there.

So, what are all the categories now?

I have wondered why I had been classified as "Dolmen Expert" ;)

Cheers

Tim
