Anyone up for a meet up in Spain in October 2005?
There is an Annular eclipse of the sun (Ring of Fire) on October 3rd visible across Spain.
I will be sailing from Plymouth to Santander to explore the Cave art in the region.
A few people from the Uk are already into meeting up.
How about some of our European Stonespagers?
Diego? I know you like your astronomy :D

The annular phase will last for 4 minutes 10 seconds at the mediterranian coast of Spain and 90.4% of the suns disc will be covered by the moon. However, an annular Solar eclipse is not as spectacular as a total one - but it's a rare sight indeed!
We had to postpone our "Megalithic Malta Tour" this year (it was planned for October), and we are looking forward to coming back to Ireland next year. But October would be a perfect month to visit Spain: less torrid temperatures and far less tourists  ;)
Keep us posted - we may jump into our faithful Twingo and zoom to Spain  B)

Darn! We're going to have to miss it. Friends have persuaded us to go to Italy in early September. (Not that it took much arm twisting.) So, please accept our profound apologies for not being able to attend, but, please also see the new thread I'm posting about a trip to Sardinia!

Have I read that you're planning to come to Spain?
Great! Perhaps before the end of this year there will be a "Spain" section in this site! There are wonderful megaliths here, but... Be careful! Most of them, especially the less known, are difficult to locate because of the lack of signpost. Or they put a first signal pointing a side road and then, in the next crossroads, they give no other clues of the correct course. It happened to me hundreds of times! Last time, about two weeks ago when searching for a Celtiberian hillfort near River Douro. I couldn't find it!
Get a good book and the Army maps of the zone you want to visit. And sometimes, our secondary roads are very bad, or you got to enter mud roads  to visit the megalith, so perhaps a Twingo is not the must suitable vehicle! I have a SUV and sometimes I have to stop and walk because the roads gets too broken, narrow or muddy. So my advice is to get a small 4x4 or otherwise, wear a pair of good, comfortable boots!

I shall be over there based somewhere around Murcia (my parents live there) and seeing some sites whilst there.
