You will see the three standing stones at Vilnes Church - Barsneset-in the Minicipal of Askvold Norway

Askvold is laying on the Westcoast North of Sognefjorden -by the Vilnesfjord. The Site is very old-and in the saga you can read about the place.

Do you have any pictures of rune stones ? Did the vikings put runes on ancient megaliths that pre-dated their settlements? I do a short unit on the nordic settlements of scand. & europe in my european civ. class. My students are always intrigued with runes. We do our names and a message using runes through some cryptic translation we can sub. runes for the alphabet.. not a very accurate usage but does raise awareness of the norsemen etc..
