You know, it has been theorized that Stonehenge is a precession clock, with the inner ring ("the big hand" of the clock) to measure 19 year intervals (Metonic Cycle), and the outer Aubrey Ring ("the little hand") to measure 360 year intervals.
It has been likened to an ancient facility in the Golan Heights that was noted at this website.
I hope you read the other thread about the Great Pyramid for more on this.

Hi celticgirl and aziza, welcome to this site. I've contributed to this site off and on for a couple of years now and have found it full of facinating facts and people.
If you aren't sure of the ancient sites in your area may I suggest that you click on the Megalinks button at the top of the page which will guide you to many other sites on the web with maps etc.
My favourites are The Megalithic Portal and The Modern Antiquarian.
On a different subject ( this is the conversation section) IMHO I don't think that this is the right sort of forum for Genisis Veracity to propound his various theories. This is not generally a "religous" forum although we may have deep feelings about either the beauty or the meaning of various sites, the discussions are generally of a more practical nature.
What do other regular contributers think?
P.S. On a very very personal note...Having gone through GV's web site and read most of the summaries of the chapters I felt as if I had been transported back to the 13/14 C BCE, when people were arguing about how many angels could dance on the head of a pin.
The Bible is, to many people, a source of profound wisdom about the human condition and brings much solace. It isn't a geological text book however, neither is it definitive. It has been re-written many times, mis-translated, had huge sections excised been subjected to "spin" and bought up-to-date nearly every generation.
For my money I would rather leave the Bible to the theologians and put my trust in those researchers (scientists, geologists, archaeologists et al) who have struggled for hundreds of years to make sense of the world in which we live. Without being too flippant, the Bible doesn't tell us how to build a PC and why should it

Then why has the Bible never shown any historical innaccuracies?
You know, conventional archaeologists thought that Sodom and Gomorrah and the Hittites were mythological until confirmed by modern archaeology, this is why the Bible has been the primary road-map for archaeological endeavors in the Middle East.
You were saying?
And if you want to debate the merits of the GFM (Global Flood Model), then why don't you start a new thread about it? I have a degree in geology from Dartmouth, and have been studying the subject for over twenty years, so be ready.

I began talking about the mechanics of Stonehenge, and then you, for some reason, interjected your opinion about my positions about geology, totally unrelated.
Why did you interject your opinion about the material at my website on this thread? It is not germane, whatsoever.

"Hello folks.I'm staying out of any differences of opinion on anything right now! Always best when one is new.." So true
Seriously though, there are loads of great sites in the Lake District wich is a lot easier for you to get to than me. This website has details of some of the best.
Jimit.

Just to gently agree Jim...I think there are vast numbers of websites where remarks like "the bible has never shown any historical inaccuracy" will find ready agreement. And where a name like Genesis Veracity wouldn't go amiss.
There are others however, and I suspect this is one.

I know about the theory. It's not new and it's one of many. Stonehenge does nothing that can't be replicated with far greater accuracy using a few twigs, so I'd have thought whatever it does it does it in a ceremonial manner.
I'm afraid I'm not up for much discussion as I find your name a bit of an alarm bell. Sorry.

I find your "name a bit of an alarm bell" also.
Fair enough, but mine was given so doesn't represent a warning.
Yours, on the other hand, is deliberately adopted and advertises you're coming from a specific fixed point. I suspect you'll find creationism isn't much bothered with here, to put it at it's most polite.
