Hey, look, a new article from our very own Archaeonews!
"An Egyptian geologist said that a hill in central Bosnia appeared to be a primitive human-made pyramid of uncertain age. Geologist Aly Abd Barakat was sent by Egypt's government to join the local team researching what Bosnian-born amateur archaeologist Semir Osmanagic says are three 12,000-year-old pyramids — the Bosnian Pyramids of Sun, Moon and Dragon. "In my opinion, it is a type of pyramid, probably primitive pyramid ... (that) we did not know until now," Barakat told reporters at the dig on the northeastern side of Visocica hill, where huge stone blocks have been found. "It is difficult for nature to create blocks like this and oriented in one orientation," he said, pointing to compact polished blocks.
He added that sand layers between the blocks were the same type of artificial cement used in ancient Egyptian pyramids. Barakat said detailed study was needed to determine the age of the excavated blocks and the type of the material used, and said more Egyptian archaeologists would join the team in Bosnia.
Osmanagic’s theory about pyramids in Bosnia has been denounced by local and European archaeologists, who say that ancient civilizations in Europe lived in caves and could not build such structures. But the U.S.-based researcher has invited skeptics to come to Bosnia. "They say that civilizations could not build such objects. I say — here is an object, and I invite them to come and find out from which period it dates," he said at the site. Osmanagic has announced the existence of two more pyramid-shaped objects in the Visoko valley, 18 miles (30 kilometers) north of the Bosnian capital Sarajevo.

So, there's our Egyptian geologist. Hmmmm...any new takes?

Aly Abd Barakat visited Bosnia and looked at the 'pyramids' for a few hours out of a week long trip when he went on excursions and looked at other geological features in the area, unrelated to the pyramids. He looked at the 'blocks' shown to him by amateur archaeologist Semir Osmanagic, and concluded that they are 'man made', by pouring a concrete like mix into a mould. He also claims that the spherical boulders in the region are man made, probably by the same people who made the 'pyramid'.
Wow. That's amazing. I never knew a geologist who could make such fundamental statements without reference to any chemico-composition tests from a laboratory (which can take weeks), and without reference to other contextual data.
It would be very nice to know who paid for his visit (and hotels, meals and subsistence). It couldn't be Semir Osmanagic or his fund could it?
So now, not only was the 'pyramid' man made - the thousands of conglomerate blocks which it is composed of are also man-made, in moulds, from a strange concrete-like substance... and the cement bonding them together is 'identical' to that used in the Egyptian pyramids. Wow, were they importing Egyptian sand and minerals? wow!
The 'blocks' depicted in the photograph look like a natural conglomerate. In many parts of the world we see features such as these, and they sometimes have very regular cell-like (like brickwork) formations.
As for the sphere's being man-made, have a look at the Moeraki Boulders from New Zealand (which are a geological formation - a concretion in fact).

Stranger and stranger. I am waiting for a totally INDEPENDANT geological and archaeological team to be allowed to properly investigate the features without being the invited guests of the businessman (author of fringe literature) who is running the show.
Not that I'm a sceptic (which I am), I just want the features to be Properly investigated with reference to modern laboratory techniques and not just a flying visit by a guy invited by people with a vested interest in proving the Bosnian 'pyramids' are authentic man-made structures (like an author waiting to publish a new book).

It is not to difficult to believe them to be natural formation, after all if man can drop globes of molten iron down a well to make cannon balls and shot, why can't natural forces do the same.

The Spitsbergen paper is exactly the sort of report geologists are able to produce when there is good scientific evidence, well-posted Crag_Dolomite !

We haven't seen Anything like this from the Pyramidiots in Bosnia, and they have had ample time to conduct exactly this kind of research.
The 'Bosnian Pyramids' appear to be a Publicity Scam for the Bosnian guy who is in the process of writing his book...

UNESCO team to probe Bosnia's "ancient pyramid"
Bosnia's mystery pyramid will now be probed and inspected by a team of experts from the U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
"We shall send a UNESCO expert team to Visoko to determine exactly what it is all about," UNESCO Secretary General Koichiro Matsuura said in an interview published on Monday in Dnevni Avaz newspaper.

Another update:
British Archeologist Weighs in on Bosnian Pyramid Scheme
A British archaeologist on Friday rejected claims that a hill in central Bosnia is a man-made structure that many local residents insist is a pyramid.
Professor Anthony Harding, who is president of the European Association of Archaeologists, visited Visocica hill and said the formation was natural.
"Not any evidence at all has been found'' to support the claim the site would be an archaeological site, he said.

Once again, please have a look at our own Archaeo News section before reporting news. We posted that same news yesterday morning - and edited with additional info from other sources.
If you'd like some more fuel to spark the already hot debate, please visit History news Network, with an excellent "debunking" article. On the opposite front, this is the link to the "official" website of the Bosnian Pyramid.
Hope this helps!

Now here we have a highly skilled and properly trained (and Very experienced it must be said) archaeologist who has had a look at the so-called 'man-made blocks'... he is absolutely certain the Pyramid is nothing more than a natural hill, but you can read for yourself at :-

Interesting. The first really experienced archaeologist to make the trip to Bosnia Not at the expense and invitation of the Pyramidiot....

Another interesting (and more detailed) link on the 'Pyramid', which is looking more and more like a geological feature...
