Bronze Age sites in co Wicklow are now protected

The Irish Minister for the Environment has signed a preservation order to protect two Bronze Age sites in Co Wicklow. The move is being seen as showing fresh Government commitment to the safeguarding of archaeological monuments throughout the country.
The protection orders were signed following reports that a prehistoric settlement near Blessington had been damaged. The Bronze Age sites include a stone circle and a number of burial mounds.
