Chinese archaeologists unearthed five ancient sites in eastern Saga and northwestern Qiongguo in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, among which, four belong to the Paleolithic and date back 10,000 years. According to Meng Xianlai, director of China Geological Survey (CGS), apart from the five sites, ancient tomb groups, 350 pieces of rockwares and pottery shards were also discovered.
Four of the five sites belong to the Paleolithic dating back approximately 10,000 years and one site belongs to the Neolihic dating back 5000-7000 years, said Meng. Since 1999, China Geological Survey has invested 300 million yuan organizing a research team for geology expedition in the unpopulated area of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
